Book Review: Good Omens: the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, Terry Pratchett&Neil Gaiman

Good OmensGood Omens by Terry Pratchett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I stayed up till 1 in the morning to finish this book, and it was so worth the headache I got.

Good Omens is mainly about an angel, Aziraphale, and a demon, Crowley, who have grown to like life on Earth and decide to stop the Apocalypse together. Of course, things aren’t so cut-and-dried, what with the Antichrist and the Four Bikers of the Apocalypse running rampant.

This book has a wide cast of hilarious characters, including the Antichrist, who is a normal boy named Adam, a witch and witchfinder (Anathema Device and Newton Pulsifer, respectively), and of course, Agnes Nutter, witch.

(And we can’t forget Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer, who burned her at the stake.)

It’s not just the characters that are hilarious, though- there are jokes all the way throughout. For example, any music that is left in Crowley’s car for more than a fortnight will turn into a Queen song, and of course, the ‘Buggre Alle This Bible’.

Basically, this book is amazing, laugh-out-loud funny, and totally worth the read. Seriously.
